Biography
Martin Kunert (Marcin von Kunert-Dziewanowski) is an innovative filmmaker, entrepreneur, and dog fanatic based in Paris.
He was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1974. His mother took Martin to the United States as a child. He entered pre-med at New York University, then horrified his mother by switching to the film school.
He moved to LA and as a filmmaker, worked with every major studio in Los Angeles, including Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers Pictures, Sony Television Studios. There he directed feature films, created reality shows, made feature documentaries, dramatic TV, and independent films. He became known for directing innovative projects like VOICES OF IRAQ, a documentary film about Iraq that gained wide acclaim, such as "If this film cannot claim to represent the political truth about the war; what film can?" -- New York Times. And "An authentic work that dares to let the subject matter speak for itself" -- Wall Street Journal. When the Shanghai Media Group and Disney Pictures agreed on a 15 year co-production of producing Chinese films driven by Hollywood creatives, Martin Kunert was hired to create and write the original franchises.
On the television front, Martin created MTV's FEAR, the first supernatural reality show. As the magazine Looper wrote, "MTV FEAR portrayed genuine terror on television and help give rise to the legion of ghost hunting series that are now one of the most popular reality shows". Most recently he directed WOMEN OF IRAN, a film that went viral internationally and was screened at the United Nations.
A few years ago he picked up a still camera and was struck by the beauty of fashion photography. In short order, his talent had him photographing campaigns for brands and editorials for magazines like Harper's Bazaar, and shooting celebrities for Content Magazine. His prints were shown in New York City art galleries and were added to permanent displays at New York Hospital's Women’s Cancer Ward. He shot luxury brands such as Audemars Piguet, Harry Winston, HB&F, De Bethune, Patek Philippe. As of 2025, he limits his photography to photography charity work, such as for UNESCO’s Women's Day celebrations in Paris.
